Since 1992, Petersen Engineering has served as engineer of record on high-performance building projects, including more than 20 years of work in Massachusetts. We have deep expertise in load reduction, energy efficiency, climate resiliency, and decarbonization, and we specialize in Passive House design and energy modeling. Eight team members have completed Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) training and certification through Phius.
We have experience on more than 65 large multifamily Passive House projects, from design through occupancy, including 40 in Massachusetts and 20 in Boston neighborhoods. Our team regularly presents at the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s BuildingEnergy Boston (NESEA) conference, the Passive House Massachusetts annual symposium, and the Passive House Institute United States (Phius) events.
